My Approach
Personalised, Evidence-Based and Practical
No two people arrive with exactly the same health history, symptoms, lifestyle or goals. That is why I do not use standard diet plans or one-size-fits-all protocols.
My approach to nutritional therapy is collaborative, carefully researched and centred around you. We look at the wider picture of your health, explore the factors that may be influencing how you feel, and turn that information into clear, realistic steps that fit your everyday life.
My role is not to tell you to follow a perfect diet. It is to help you understand your options, decide what feels achievable and build changes that can be sustained beyond our time together.
We Begin With Your Full Story
Our work starts with an in-depth consultation. This gives you the time to explain what has been happening, what you have already tried and what you would most like to change.
We may discuss:
your current symptoms and health concerns
your medical and family history
your usual food and eating patterns
medications and supplements
sleep, stress, movement and daily routines
previous test results or diagnoses
your preferences, practical circumstances and goals
Looking at these areas together can help reveal useful patterns that may be missed when each concern is considered separately.
I Research and Connect the Information
After our consultation, I carefully review the information you have shared and consider the most relevant nutritional and lifestyle factors.
My scientific background helps me evaluate research critically and distinguish useful evidence from passing health trends. I also draw on my pharmacy knowledge when considering medications, supplements and possible drug–nutrient interactions.
Rather than chasing every possible explanation, I focus on the areas most relevant to your situation. The aim is to create clarity and identify sensible priorities, not to overwhelm you with more information.
We Create a Plan That Works in Real Life
Your recommendations are developed around your needs, preferences and current capacity for change.
Depending on your circumstances, your personalised plan may include:
adjustments to meals, food choices or eating patterns
practical ideas for shopping, cooking and meal preparation
support with sleep, stress, movement or daily routines
supplement recommendations where appropriate
a review of supplements you are already taking
further medical investigation or functional testing when it may provide genuinely useful information
You will not be expected to change everything at once. We agree on manageable steps and begin with the changes most likely to support your goals.
Functional Testing: Only When It Adds Value
Functional testing is not automatically necessary for every client.
Where appropriate, we may discuss tests relating to areas such as nutrient status, digestive function or other aspects of health. Before recommending a test, I consider whether the result is likely to influence your plan, whether a suitable test is already available through your GP, and whether the cost is justified.
Testing should answer a useful question. It should not be used simply because it is available.
Nutritional therapy is designed to complement, rather than replace, appropriate medical care. Where symptoms require medical assessment, investigation or treatment, I will encourage you to speak with your GP or another suitably qualified healthcare professional.
We Review, Learn and Adapt
Health changes are rarely completely linear. Your needs may change, new information may emerge, and some recommendations may suit you better than others.
During follow-up consultations, we review what has worked, what has been difficult and how your body has responded. We then adapt the plan so that it remains relevant, realistic and supportive.
This process helps you move away from guessing and towards a better understanding of your own patterns, needs and choices.
Support Without Judgement
You do not need to eat perfectly, follow every recommendation immediately or arrive feeling motivated all the time.
My practice is a supportive and non-judgemental space. We work at a pace that respects your health, responsibilities, budget, food preferences and everyday life.
I want you to leave our work together with more than a list of instructions. My aim is to help you feel informed, involved and increasingly confident in making decisions about your health.
Your kitchen can become your everyday lab - not a place of restriction or rigid rules, but somewhere you can experiment thoughtfully, notice what works for you and build habits that last.
